John Deere was born in Rutland, Vermont on February 7, 1804. His love for the fields started when he was young, becoming a blacksmith's apprentice at age 17. He moved out west where the farmers had a hard time to plow their fields. He decided to make a new product for hard working farmers out of steel instead of iron and wood which easily breaks. By the 1840's he was selling and producing plows for farmers across the land. His steel plows allowed for better harvesting and did not break as easily. His idea revolutionized the farming business and added new ideas to thrive for farmers.
